Shoko Wolfson

Founder and Head Teacher

Shoko Wolfson is the founder of Piano Yogi. She is a wife and the mother of two daughters. She and her family live in Lakewood, Colorado.

Shoko was born in Japan and started to play the piano at age 3. At age 5, she enjoyed improvisational music and took composing lessons, including music theory and harmony theory from her aunt, who was a composer. She graduated from Fukuoka Daiichi Music High School in 2002. That year, she moved to the United States to continue her music studies at a university in North Carolina. At first, she wasn't able to speak English and had a hard time communicating, but she discovered that "Music is the universal language!" She made a lot of friends by song accompaniment and by playing popular music by ear. She realized that music was love. She also realized that playing the piano and expressing herself through music was a huge asset. In 2006, she graduated from Chowan University's Department of Music. As a student, she lived in NYC for 7 months, where she got her introduction to yoga.

After returning to her hometown in Japan, Shoko opened her own piano school. At the same time, she started working as a yoga instructor. She taught various classes such as Hot yoga, Aerial yoga, Hata yoga, Ashtanga yoga, and Prenatal yoga. Additionally, she worked as the director of a major yoga studio and was an RYT 200 trainer. She's been invited to teach in Hong Kong, Bali, and Seoul.

She moved to the United States with her family in 2021 and opened Piano Yogi in Lakewood, CO the following year.

She has over 10 years of teaching experience in both piano and yoga.

She thinks it's important to be honest with yourself, value your intuition, to listen to the sound you make, and to always point your heart's antenna toward happiness.

"Let's play piano! Just have fun and remember that we're lucky to be playing together!"
